About

About Telehealth Appointments

A telehealth appointment allows patients to consult with a GP remotely by phone or video without attending the clinic in person.

Telehealth can be suitable for health concerns that do not require a physical examination or procedure. Depending on your individual circumstances, this may include discussing symptoms, reviewing an existing condition, requesting a repeat prescription, discussing referrals, reviewing medications or following up on previous care.

During the consultation, the GP will assess your concern and discuss appropriate next steps. If your condition requires a physical examination, diagnostic testing, vaccination, procedure or other face-to-face assessment, the GP may recommend that you attend an in-person appointment.

This appointment type does not attract a Medicare rebate. Patients are responsible for the full private consultation fee.

Telehealth is not appropriate for medical emergencies. For urgent or life-threatening medical concerns, call 000 or attend the nearest emergency department.
